Someone on TikTok commented that this trend appeals to either a twenties-something girl or man well into his late forties. Welcome to the 1970s Camp Counselor. A retro, unisex trend that feels like blissful nostalgia. Spending the summer by the lake, singing country tunes, eating s’mores by the fire, maybe making a friendship bracelet or two. Connecting with nature & getting off the grid. Some songs that get me in the mood are: Rocky Mountain High by John Denver, Take It Easy by The Eagles and Up Around The Bend by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
To nail this aesthetic you need these 5 pieces:
- Aviator Sunglasses
- Ringer Tee -or- Camp Shirt
- Dolphin Shorts
- Varsity Tube Socks
- Converse Sneakers
Some of my favorite brands for this trend are: Hammies, Big Bud Press, Sporty & Rich, Converse, Fjallraven, and actual outdoor clothing shops like Old School Outdoor & Passenger. Though there will be nothing that quite compares to thrifting original 1970s vintage camp shirts & graphic tees! The camp shirt featured in this flatlay I bought on eBay & added some of my own patches. Depop & Poshmark would be a great source for this too.
