One of the best moments that happened in 2023 was the release of Daisy Jones & the Six on Prime Video. If you’ve never heard of it, it has a similar vibe to Almost Famous mixed with the drama & backstory of Fleetwood Mac. It’s a chef’s kiss kind of limited series set in the 1970s. The wardrobe, set design & music alone are well-worth watching.
I highly recommend starting out with reading the book first or listening to the audiobook version since you’re able to get more character complexity. From here, move on to listening to the Daisy Jones & The Six album- yes you read this correctly, the fictional band put out a full album called AURORA to aline with the launch of the series. My 2023 Spotify Wrapped had Look At Us Now (Honeycomb), The River, Please & Kill You To Try.

As someone who is very much into decade fashion & vintage style, I appreciated the level of care that went into the costume design & how it perfectly aligned with Daisy Jones’ character in the book. DJATS inspired me to lean more into the late 70s rocker style with swapping my clogs for cowboy boots and crochet shrugs to breezy kimonos. For an authentic 70s look, I highly recommend going to your local thrift store or browsing Postmark, Depop & eBay. My most unique pieces are always secondhand! Otherwise my go-to shops are The Hippie Shake, Nine Lives Bazaar, Free People and smaller boutiques on Etsy (especially Fantasia Superstar for Penny Lane inspired coats).
